Learning best practices of using an automated election system in Mongolia
General Election Commission of Mongolia has received the delegation of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of the Republic of Uzbekistan headed by Mr. Kurbankulov Suyarjon who is the Secretary of the Secretariat Office of CEC from 23 to 24 October 2017 to share our experiences on automated election system, specially an electronic voter lists and its pertinent technical aspects. Delegation consists of the representatives from the Ministry of Development of IT and Communications, State Land Registration Department of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe.
During the study visit CEC delegates were mostly interested in past experiences on the introduction of automated system in election activities and procedures, especially formation of voter electronic database, voter registration, voting and counting process, transmission of election results and method to ensure its safety and security. In this sense, delegation also visited to the General Authority for Intellectual Property and State Registration to have a meeting with the appropriate officials and learn experiences on electronic voter list and its techniques for voter database formation.
Head of delegation Mr. Kurbankulov noted that Mongolia is recognized with its wide experiences related to the successful endorsement of automated techniques in election not only within its region also in the states developing democracy. Further mentioned that based on the report after election observation by the Office for Democracy and human rights of the Organization of Security and cooperation in Europe (ODIHR/OSCE) Election Observation Mission, its achievements are also highly valued which reflected the interest of Uzbekistan colleagues to pay study visit to Mongolia this time.
In the meantime, the representatives of the Kyrgyz Republic have visited to Mongolia in the past and have studied our experiences introducing and using an automated system in voter registration and in voting process that are also introduced in Kyrgyzstan later on.
